Cordelia "Peg" Johnson

Cordelia "Peg" Johnson Cordelia "Peg" Johnson, age 84, passed away at The Residence on Greenbelt on Monday, October 1, 2012. She was born October 16, 1927 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Basil Duke Sollers, Sr. and Cordelia England Sollers. She graduated from Eastern High School in Baltimore in 1945. Peg worked for a number of years for the C&P Telephone Company as a service supervisor. She was married to the late Russell L. Johnson, Sr. in 1956 and moved to the Washington, D.C. area. Peg was an active member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Bowie for over forty years. She was very active in the church's Hunger Committee and also participated in mission work in Honduras. Peg was one of the founding members of FISH of Greater Bowie, a ministry of volunteers who provided transportation needs for those needing help getting to medical appointments. For her community work, she received the 1978 Distinguished Bowie Citizen Award. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid fan of both the Orioles and Ravens. Peg is survived by her sons and their wives: Russ and Kathy Johnson, Lexington, NC, Ronnie and Linda Johnson, Bowie, MD and Randy and Judy Johnson, Bowie MD; seven grandchildren, Kristi Allred, Lexington, NC, Michelle Peoples, Knightdale, NC, Doug Johnson, New York, NY, Sally Johnson, Erin Johnson, Kara Johnson and Anna Johnson, all of Bowie, MD; and two great-grandsons, Chandler Allred, Lexington, NC and Walker Peoples, Knightdale, NC. She is further survived by a niece, other relatives and many friends. In addition to her husband Russell, she was preceded in death by a brother, Basil. Funeral services for Peg Johnson will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 13106 Annapolis Road, Bowie, MD 20720. The Rev. Leslie St. Louis, rector, will officiate. A reception will follow the service in the church parish hall.
