Thomas J Wilson (65), of Rockville, Maryland, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2012, after a long struggle with cancer. Widower of Frances Davis Wilson, he is survived by daughters Suzanne Stipe Persaud, Kristen Wilson Foster and Megan Wilson Leebel. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, Logan, Connor, and Dylan Persaud, and Cailyn and Benjamin Foster, as well as sister Mary Kidwell, brothers William and Msgr. Michael Wilson, and former wife Madeline Knoebel. Tom was born in Newport News, Virginia, the sixth of eight children to Col. Norton (Curly) Bailey Wilson and Marion Hunter Wilson. His siblings are Daniel, Mary Louise, Norton Jr. (Butch), James, William, Michael and Stephen. Son of a West Point graduate, Tom's family moved from Virginia to Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; Governor's Island, New York; and West Point, New York. When he was in seventh grade, his father retired from the Army and moved the family to Rockville, Maryland. After graduating from Walter Johnson High School in 1965, Tom attended Montgomery College until being called up for the Army. He spent a couple of years in the military before moving back to Montgomery County, Maryland, where he met his first wife Madeline Knoebel. They raised their three childrenSuzanne, Kristen and Meganin Frederick, Maryland. Tom met his second wife, Frances Davis Wilson, on a St. Raphael's Catholic Church trip to Ireland. She passed away in 2000. After retiring from the Germantown Post Office, Tom purchased a home and planned to spend much of his time in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. He was surrounded by his daughters, sister and brother when he passed away at Casey House, in Rockville, Maryland. The funeral will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, October 6, 2012, at Sacred Heart Church, 16501 Annapolis Rd., Bowie, Maryland. He will be cremated, but people may pay their respects prior to the funeral service beginning at 10:45 am. Interment will immediately follow the funeral service. Afterward, we will celebrate his life at the home of Tom's dear friends nearby. Address and directions will be given at the service.
