Leonard Jack Fearon was born on April 10, 1934 in New York. As a child, he was thrilled to have a family of West Indian descent who strived through hard work. They dedicated themselves to run several businesses to survive as a family in the hustle and bustle of New York. Both parents, Florence Maude White and Benjamin Fearon, migrated to the United States through the historical Ellis Island from the Caribbean islands of Antigua and Jamaica respectively. Some of his accomplishments include the following: Brooklyn Technical High School, NY - graduated with diploma Air Force Enlistment -2 years in Texas with Honorable discharge City College of New York - Bachelor Degree in Physics - utilized GI Bill Air Force Reserve - 6 years with Honorable discharge Leonard married the love of his life, Doris Fearon on August 26, 1962; they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. Doris introduced him to Chinese food for which he was obsessed with all his life They moved from New York to Maryland in 1969 for better job opportunities Leonard and Doris raised three wonderful children, Lawrence, Christopher, and Donna -- who all benefited from a college education Leonard's career entailed working as an electronics engineer for several defense departments in Washington, DC from which he retired in 1985 His hobbies included electronics, chemistry, model railroads, model airplanes, fishing Leonard was an avid reader of books on electronics, military history, and African history He was obsessed with the color blue, military shows, and homemade West Indian dumplings He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Fearon; mother, Florence Fearon; and brother, Harold Adolfus Fearon. Leonard is survived by his wife, Doris Fearon; his children, Lawrence Mark Fearon, Christopher Wayne Fearon, and Donna Marie Fearon; his favorite daughter-in-law, Seana D. Fearon; his grandsons, Jason Aaron Fearon and Brandon Joseph Fearon, and a host of wonderful relatives who miss his strength, courage, intellect, and wisdom. Leonard knew the Lord as his savior.
