Domonic A. Newman

January 9, 1953 — September 11, 2012

Domonic Aloysius Newman was born on January 9, 1953, in Washington, DC, to Mary Agnes and Joseph (Bud) Newman. Domonic was the 8th child of 14 and was raised in Clinton, Maryland. He graduated from Surrattsville Senior High School in 1971 and continued his education through on-the-job training, attending various job-related classes leading to many field-related certifications. A native of Clinton, Maryland, Domonic, after graduation started working for Gly Construction Company soon afterwards. On June 8, 1974, Domonic was joined in holy matrimony to Wanda Dianne Reid. This blessed union produced two children - Karl Aron, and Erik Patrick. He and his family lived in various parts of Maryland --- Camp Springs, Temple Hills, Waldorf and finally Bowie. Domonic made a career change in December 1973 by working for the Department of Interior, National Capital Parks as a Laborer. In addition to the O-J-T and several Certifications, he was also awarded with numerous outstanding performance awards throughout his career. Domonic subsequently retired as a Grounds Maintenance Worker Supervisor in January 2007. Domonic had two special hobbies: restoring cars and landscaping. His car restoration' hobby would have him buying, restoring, and selling many cars and trucks over the years, which was one of his greatest joys and challenges. He also took great pride in the landscaping he did on his own home as well as giving others advice on the maintenance and care of their yards, and working part-time as a professional landscaper. Domonic was also a great handyman around the house. If anything was broken he'd fix it, and oftentimes figure out a way to design a unique tool for some of those hard to fix repairs. Karl and Erik would often refer to him as "McGuyver at work" because they were amazed at how easy he made it seem to be able to repair things. Most of all, Domonic was a calm, quiet family man who loved his wife and sons so very much. Wanda was his Queen. GOOD-BYE FOR NOW MY LOVE..... Left with cherished memories are his devoted and loving wife, Wanda; his sons, Karl and Erik, 3 brothers - Milton, David and Matthew; 4 sisters - Madeline, Direen, Gloria and Denise; Father-in-Law and Mother-in-Law - Willard and Karyn Reid; Sister-in-Law - Pamela Williams (Michael) and niece Kayla; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Domonic was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Agnes Newman, his father, Joseph (Bud) Newman; two sisters, Donna and Veronica, and 4 brothers, Glenn, Daniel, Chris, and Keena. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom filled room. Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long and not with your head bowed low, Remember the love that we once shared; Miss me, but let me go. For this is a journey that we all must take, and each must go alone. It's all a part of the Master's plan; a step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick at heart, go to the friends we know, and bury your sorrows in doing good deeds. Miss me, But Let Me Go.
