A. Clark Holmes, M.D. died Monday, September 03, 2012after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He was a resident of Heritage Harbour in Annapolis, MD. He was born on May 31, 1933 in Greenport, New York. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Janet M. Holmes, brothers Paul Holmes and Claude Holmes, his daughter Cheryl Gregory (Norman), his son Kevin Holmes (Patty), his daughter Dana Hamilton (Jack), 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Clark studied at the University of Maryland Baltimore, graduating in 1958 with his M.D. degree. He was in a group practice in Baltimore before beginning his private practice in January 1962 in Upper Marlboro, Maryland where he continued until July 1993. He was Director of the Family Practice Residency Program at Prince George's Hospital from July 1993 until 2000. He continued practicing medicine part time until 2005, when he retired after 47 years. Throughout his career, he had the honor of being a team physician for the Washington Capitals Hockey Team as well as the Bowie Baysox Baseball Team. He was a member of the Maryland Academy of Family Physicians and served as their President in 1987-1988. He was also active in the American Academy of Family Physicians. He was a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians beginning in 1976. He was a member at Bethel United Methodist Church and remained a member until his death. He was active in Young Life from 1981 until his death.
