Roy James Rakes On Sunday, August 12, 2012, of Bowie, MD. Beloved husband of Ann P. Rakes; devoted father of David C. Rakes and his wife, Carol, and the late James E. Rakes; father-in-law of Cheryl Rakes; brother of Maybelle Flora and her husband Ernest; half-brother of Martha Nolan, Sylvia Scruggs and her husband Leonard, and Yvonne; grandfather of Tricia and her husband Adam Fojtik, Kristy, Matthew and his wife Courtney, Jimmy, Rachel, Stephanie and her husband Chuck Schlauch, and Michael; great-grandfather of Erica, Abby, Beckett, and Meera. Family will receive friends at the Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Hwy. (Rte. 3 South), Bowie, MD on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at Village Baptist Church, 1950 Mitchellville Rd., Bowie, MD on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at 11 AM, with interment to follow at Fort Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Village Baptist Church.
