John Jerome Connolly "Jerry", of Bowie, died on Sunday, May 13, 2012 at Mandrin House of the Hospice of the Chesapeake in Harwood following a short illness. Jerry attended Cretin High School, St. Thomas University and the University of Minnesota and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. He was on the forefront of the computer age becoming a computer programmer in the late 1950's. He worked for Northern States Power in Minnesota, before moving to the Bowie to work for the Federal Government, first for the Department of Commerce and lastly for the Department of the Navy. He was predeceased by his parents Jeremiah and Lillian Connolly, his beloved wife, Joan L. Connolly and his brother, James Connolly. He is survived by his children, Robert Connolly (Cynthia) of Chapel Hill, NC, David Connolly (MaryLou) of Chandler, AZ, Jane Boarman (Charles) of Wilmington, DE, Susan Connolly-Jackson (Brent) of Atlanta, GA, Maureen Connolly of Elkridge, Marguerite Connolly of Bowie, and Thomas Connolly of Churchville; grandchildren, Renee White of Morrisville, NC, Regan Honeycutt of Chapel Hill, NC, Kaitlin Connolly of Chapel Hill, NC, Kelsey Connolly of Chapel Hill, NC, Kacee Connolly of Chandler, AZ, John Boarman of Wilmington, DE, Leona Jackson of Atlanta, GA, Matthew Thorpe of Annapolis, Catherine Farrington of Bowie, Elizabeth Thorpe of Bowie, and Mary Thorpe of Annapolis; and great-grandchildren Autumn Fabian of Bowie, Liam Thorpe of Annapolis, and Caydan Farrington of Bowie. Family will receive friends at the family-owned BEALL FUNERAL HOME, 6512 NW Crain Hwy. (Rte. 3 South), Bowie, on Thursday, May 17, 2012, from 6 to 8pm; and Friday, May 18, 2012, from 10 to 12 noon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 14720 Annapolis Rd., Bowie, Friday, May 18, 2012, at 2:30 pm. Interment will be at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Cheltenham on a later date.
