Sophie Miceli Bruno, better known as Mima, 82, a long time resident of Bowie, Maryland, died on January 31st in Elizabeth City, NC. Sophie was born on July 18, 1929 in New York City. She was married to her beloved husband James Bruno on June 26, 1947. They had two daughters Carol and Maria. The Bruno family relocated to Bowie in 1963 when Jim began his career with the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington, DC. While in Maryland, she enjoyed bingo and bowling. She shared a very close relationship with her friend and neighbor Virginia Allen. The greatest joy in her life was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband and both daughters. She later moved with her granddaughter to Virginia Beach, VA, then to Germany. While abroad she traveled to Italy, France and Spain. She is survived by her grandchildren, Shannon Bleil and her partner Brett Thomas, Traci and Randy Sawtelle, James Dillon and their father Ed Dillon, Jason Holt, Keith Holt, and his partner Kristy Vine. She had 7 great-grandchildren, Jessica Marie, Madeline Louise, Amanda Leigh, Rebecca Grace, Thomas Hamilton, Robert James and Adriana Sophia. We would like to extend our most sincere appreciation to Brett Thomas, who was her primary caretaker towards the end of her illness. He was not only selfless, but kind and loving when she needed care the most.
