M. Simone Durose

MARIE SIMONE LUCIENE (Therrien) DUROSE Simone Durose, 95, a recent resident at Regency Park Assisted Living in Gambrills, Maryland died peacefully on January 26, 2012. Born on April 20, 1916 in Barton, Vermont to parents Zacharie and Adele Therrien, Simone grew up on a dairy farm in West Charleston, Vermont. In 1935 she moved to Whitehouse and later Lebanon, New Jersey. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse for 76 years. Known for her strong work ethic, she was employed as a maid, seamstress, and electronics technician. Retiring from RCA in 1981, she received a 25 year perfect attendance award. Another proud accomplishment was being a member of the Air Civil Defense Corps during WW2. Combining her love of sewing and desire to keep active after retirement, she created a successful home business, Bags by Simone. Her spare time was spent tending to her extensive garden and house plants and enjoying the company of her friends and family. Simone is predeceased by her husband of 54 years Clive and her dog Scotty. She is survived by her son Clive and daughter-in-law Nancy of Crofton, Maryland; grandsons Matthew and wife Christine of Manassas, Virginia and David and wife Sara of Olney, Maryland; great-grandchildren Daniel and Selah. A private service officiated by Reverend Donald Horrigan was held in Bowie, Maryland. Interment will follow on May 17, 2012, 11:00am at the cemetery in West Charleston, Vermont.
