Nathaniel Lee Roscoe, Sr. June 20, 1944 - January 15, 2012 Mr. Nathaniel Lee Roscoe, Sr. was born on June 20, 1944 to the late Lewis and Lillie Roscoe in Norfolk, VA. He was also preceded in death by his siblings Lewis James, Jr. and Barbara Roscoe James. Nat was educated in the Norfolk public school system where he attended Booker T. Washington High School. He was known for being a well-dressed teenager who loved to dance and was popular with all of his peers. He had a beautiful, winsome smile and was loved for his inviting personality and gift of gab. All of his fine qualities really drew him to a childhood friend, Ms. Ruby Holland. Within a year of beginning to date him, she became Mrs. Nathaniel Roscoe. They were the proud parents of Tamita, Nat Jr., Trent and Rae. Nat was truly loved by his children and grandchildren, who all said, "other than Jehovah, dad or granddaddy is my best friend!" Nat was a hard working young man who took delight in taking care of his family. He moved the family from Norfolk to the Washington, D.C. area in 1967. He was employed by Eastern Airlines and enjoyed many family vacations in the Caribbean. Later he opted for self-employment in carpet sales and installation and was known to his clients as "Roscoe the Carpet Man!" He was also known for his daily morning trip to the 7Eleven to buy coffee. Everyone there knew him by his trademark truck parked out front with rolls of carpet hanging out of the back! After studying the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses, Nat and Ruby dedicated their lives to Jehovah and were baptized on October 19, 1975. He loved sharing Bible truths with all whom he met. He and his wife always tried to be a good example to their children and grandchildren in teaching them Bible laws and principles. He was a member of the North Bowie congregation, where he served as a ministerial servant. Up until his death, Nat continued to share the good news of God's kingdom with his doctors and nurses. Two of his favorite scriptures were Revelation 21:3-5 and John 5:28, 29. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Ruby, his daughter, Tamita Roscoe-Watkins and son-in-law, Carl, his son, Nathaniel Roscoe, Jr. and daughter-in-law Rozolyn, his son, Trent Holland and daughter-in-law, Terry and daughter, Rayvalane Frances and son-in-law, James.
