Dorothy "Dottie" Marie Gregg brightened this world on June 27, 1936, blessed to be born to the late Eunice and Henry Wheeler at DC General Hospital in Washington, DC. After 75 years on earth and a long battle with cancer, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ called her home on January 12, 2012, to begin her eternal life with Him. Dottie lived to be loved and to give love. She was blessed with 37 years of marriage to her devoted husband, Robert Gregg Sr., "Boaz". She gave life to five wonderful, devoted children: Michael Sears, Troy Sears, Barbara Sears, Jacquie Coles and Robbi Gregg. She was also a loving stepmother to: Janis Pressley, Vikki Davis, Robert Gregg Jr., Rodney Gregg (deceased) and Donna Montgomery. Dottie graduated from Cardoza High School in Washington, DC. She later enjoyed taking classes at Prince George's Community College. Her career included working for St. Elizabeth's Hospital as a Psychiatric Nursing Assistant, where she met her "Boaz", and later for the Prince George's County Police Department as a 911 Emergency Operator, where she retired in 1992. Most importantly, Dottie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, was baptized in His name, and continued on to receive the precious gift of the Holy Ghost, speaking in other tongues as the spirit of God gave utterance! She continued her worship at First Baptist Church of Upper Marlboro under the leadership and instruction of former pastors and current Pastor James Burcham. At First Baptist, she strived to become the holy woman that God desired. Dottie also enjoyed fellowship with Faith Assembly of Christ in Capitol Heights, MD, where she visited with her daughter Jacquie, and loved to attend the noon-day prayer group and the bi-annual women's ministry retreats. Dottie's tongue was sharp; her laugh infectious; and her heart as good as gold. As Pastor Burcham said, "You never had to wonder what Dot was thinking; she always told you what was on her mind." She would do anything in her power to help another soul and was quick to apologize when she made mistakes. And as everyone who knew her knows, her beautiful smile and colorful bonnets could brighten any room. In addition to her husband and children, her memory will be cherished and celebrated by: Aunt Lucille "Peepsie" Thomas, who was like her mother; 3 brothers: Edward (deceased), Donald (Carrie) and Billy Wheeler; sister: Carolyn Jenkins; son-in-law: Norman Montgomery; daughters-in-law: Renee Sears and Christine Gregg; 12 grandchildren: Michael Watts, Latika Ferguson, Marcus Sears, Miaya Patterson (Sean), Triston Coles, Vonetta Davis, Rosslyn Martinez (Jose), Stanley Pressley Jr. (Tanya), Robert Gregg III, and Ashley, AJ and Antoine Montgomery; adopted grandchild: Angelika Beverly; 17 great grandchildren: Zakiyyah and Sadiyyah Ferguson, Michael Taylor, Justin and Cianna Patterson, Gabriel Coles, Chloe Jackson, Whitney (deceased), Joshua, Caleb and Elijah Davis, Gabriel, Carmen and Luis Martinez, Brittany, Stanley Jr. and Bridgette Pressley; cousins: Louise Harvey, Patricia Holmes, Ronald and Ralph Thomas, Paula Kirk, Phyllis McCoy, Linda Neal and many others; goddaughter: Terry Hodges; best friends: Sue Mason, Arletha Holland, Sandy Lowry and other friends from her church and a host of other nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, extended family and loyal friends. Family will receive friends at First Baptist Church of Upper Marlboro, 7415 SW Crain Hwy., Upper Marlboro, Md on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 from 10 to 11am, with a Funeral Service at 11am.
