Joyce Seigel Standifer

Joyce Seigel Standifer, 75, passed away on January 8, 2012 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. Born in Warsaw, Pennsylvania on August 16, 1936 to Arthur and Katherine Seigel, she grew up in nearby Oil City and graduated from Oil City Senior High School in 1955. She moved to Washington, D.C. where she was employed by Pepco, and in 1960 married Hershel Standifer. The couple moved to Bowie, Maryland in 1964 where they resided for 43 years and raised three children. In 2007, they relocated to Fredericksburg, Virginia where Joyce remained until her death. In earlier years, Joyce was an avid square dancer, and later enjoyed tennis and gardening. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Mary Bean; her twin grandsons Joshua and Brandon Karl, and is survived by her husband, Hershel Standifer; her children, Paula Randall, Kara Karl, and Robert Standifer; her sister Eileen Crotts; and her grandchildren, Emily and Lauren Randall, and Sean and Katie Karl. The family will receive friends at the family-owned BEALL FUNERAL HOME, 6512 NW Crain Hwy, (Rte. 3 South), Bowie, MD, on Monday, January 16, 2012 from 2 to 4pm. Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 16, 2012 at 4pm. Interment private at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Crownsville.
