Merle W. Terenyi Merle W. Terenyi, of Annapolis, died on October 6. She was born one of six siblings back in 1934, and was a 1951 graduate of Eastern High School, in Washington, DC. She is survived by her husband, Frank Terenyi; her children, Brenda Sears and husband Steve of Bowie, John Terenyi and wife Kathleen of Raleigh, NC, and Thomas Terenyi and wife Lisa of Bowie; and her sister, June Eisner of Cleveland, OH. She is also survived by five grandchildren (Tom, Joseph, James, Frank & Christopher), her adopted granddaughter (Eileen), and three great-grandchildren (Aidan, Sarayah & Israel). Merle was a devoted mother, and steadfast lover of her grand and great-grand children. She poured into the lives of so many through her years, that it became countless long ago. She had many roles in the lives of so many, and was loved by all she came in contact with. Professionally, Merle worked for both the Department of the Army at the Pentagon back in the 50s, and worked for the Prince George's County School System for years through the 60s up through to the early 90s, everywhere from Edgar Allen Poe Elementary, to the School Board headquarters in Upper Marlboro. This was all in between her first priority though - which was raising her children, to be men and women of character, that longed after a deep relationship with Christ. Merle also held several volunteer positions over the years - everything from Mothers' Clubs, to PTA President, to administering her husband's mayoral campaign and administration. She also loved card games with friends, cooking for unlimited numbers of family, and playing scrabble with her friends, kids and grandkids. (Boy, did she always whip up on everyone! ;) Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 12 at First Baptist Church of Crofton, 1690 Crofton Parkway, Crofton, where a funeral service will also be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 13. Interment, will be held at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, in Cheltenham. If desired, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Charities that Merle was fond of included domestically-based child feeding programs, like Appalachian Ministries, and globally-focused ministries, like feeding orphans through non-profit, gospel-centered ministries such as We Are Kenya. All donations can be made through First Baptist Church of Crofton, with the ministry you care to give to written in the memo.
