James Patrick Tallon, age 60, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2011, at his home in Bowie, (MD). He was born on November 17, 1950 in Howard Beach, New York, the son of James and Mary Tallon. He graduated from Bernard Baruch College in 1972 with a BA in English and earned a Masters in Education from the University of Maryland in 1985. Jim taught for 33 years in Prince George's Co., the last 28 years as an 8th grade English teacher at Martin Luther King Middle School in Beltsville. He made a difference in the lives of many of his students as a dedicated teacher and coach. He was greatly loved and respected by fellow teachers and staff and will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and strong Christian faith. At Mt Oak Church, he was actively involved for over 24 years as a dynamic Bible teacher, fun loving coach and friend to all. Jim was the beloved husband of 35 years of Cynthia Flagg Tallon; dearly loved father of Stephanie, Glenn and Gregory and father-in-law of Priscilla and Kristin; treasured grandfather of Shannon and Patrick. He was the cherished brother to his two sisters, Mary and Anne and loved by all of his extended family members. Known to many as Jimmy, Jimmy T or Coach Tallon, he was passionate about his faith in Jesus Christ and devoted to his family and friends. His wisdom, caring and generous nature and wonderful sense of humor will never be forgotten, and the innumerable lives he touched will forever serve as a legacy to the unforgettable man that he was. He will be tremendously missed by all who were blessed to know him. The family received friends on Sunday, Sept 25th at Beall Funeral Home in Bowie. A "Celebration of His Life" was held on September 26, 2011 at Mt Oak United Methodist Church in Mitchellville.
