Princess was born on February 23, 1928 in a coal mining town in the hills of West Virginia. She spent her childhood in this area with her loving family. Joseph Fernandez returned from fighting in World War II and met Princess at a dance at the Blue Star in 1946. They married on February 28, 1947. Three beautiful children were born to Princess and Joe; Joseph (1949), Susan (1951), and Mary (1956). Joe's military career took the family to many different places, including extended stays in Germany and Panama. They settled in Odenton, Maryland from 1966 to 1980. Once all their children were grown, they enjoyed a few years in Florida, but returned to Maryland in 1986. Annapolis was their home for the remainder of their lives. All that is needed is to take a look at Princess' children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to see her legacy. Her inner strength and loving heart were felt by all. You can only have one mother patient, kind and true; no other friend in all the world will be the same to you. When other friends forsake you to mother you will return, for all her lovingkindness she asks nothing in return. As we look upon her picture, sweet memories we recall of a face so full of sunshine and a smile for one and all. Sweet Jesus, take this message to our dear mother up above; tell her how we miss her and give her all our love.
