Elizabeth Jane (Ackerman) Wardrip Long time Resident of Bowie, Maryland She was Born on December 12, 1925 and died on May 6, 2011 Jane was a beloved mother and friend who was called to heaven on this day May 6, 2011. She was born in Lawrenceburg, Indiana on December 12,1925. After graduating from high school in Lawrenceburg she moved with her parents and brother to New Rochelle, New York where she attended Columbia University earning a Bachelor's degree in English Literature. After graduation she moved to Virginia and worked for the U.S. Government at the Pentagon where she was editor of the weekly newspaper. Later, with the family she moved to Bowie, MD and attended the University of Maryland earning a master's degree in Library Science while working at the Bowie Library. She retired from the library in 1991. Some of Jane's most memorable achievements were her membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution and inclusion in Who's Who of American Women. Jane enjoyed world travel, watching movies, reading, and fine cuisine. Jane was a great conversationalist and lived life to the fullest. Jane was a devout Catholic and attended the Ascension Catholic Church in Bowie, MD. Jane was preceded in death by her son Gregory, and her brother Richard Ackerman and father Estel (Bud) and mother Dorothy Ackerman. She is survived by her four daughters, Elizabeth Jane Fisher (Uwe), Margaret Louise Wardrip, Laura Anne Liebe (James), and Mary Ann Hall (Keene). Family will receive friends at the family-owned BEALL FUNERAL HOME, 6512 NW Crain Hwy. (Rte. 3 South), Bowie, MD on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 from 6 to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Ascension Catholic Church, 12700 Lanham Severn Rd., Bowie, MD on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 11am. She will be interned next to her son Gregory at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, Maryland. Jane will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
