Bertha Grace Hazzard, formerly of Crofton, MD and a resident of Easton, MD died Wednesday, May 4, 2011. She was 82 years old. Born in 1928 in Emery, MS, Grace attended high school in Kennett, MO. After graduating, she worked for the local power and light company and the Frey Lumber Company. In 1951, with her two sisters, she went to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C. In 1956 she earned her accounting degree. In 1962 she went to work for the Department of Transportation in Washington, D.C., where she excelled. Her job performance at the D.O.T. earned her an award in her name and was presented to outstanding performing employees. She taught Sunday School for a number of years at the first Baptist Church in Crofton, MD. She is survived by her sister, Mary Rose Hazzard of Easton, MD; her brother, William Hazzard of Bloomfield Hills, MI; 2 nieces, 2 nephews, 10 grand-nieces and nephews and one great niece. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Crofton.
