Theodore C. Haaser

Ted was born February 9, 1924 in Fremont, Ohio. After graduating from St. Joseph High in Fremont he was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II, serving for 3 years in the Quartermaster Corps stationed in Great Britain. Following service in the Army, he went to college on the GI Bill to earn an accounting degree and later became a Certified Public Accountant. While attending college he also began his career with the Federal Government where he held a wide variety of positions. His distinguished 30 year federal career included 15 years as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) (including a stint in Director J. Edgar Hoover's office), establishment of the Inspector General's office at the U.S. Department of Agriculture and managed programs at other Federal agencies and departments. He retired in 1974. After retiring he did consulting work and was a member of the Staff of the Committee on Appropriations, House of Representatives. Ted was also well known for his generosity with his time. He devoted himself to a considerable amount of volunteer work for the Former Society of FBI Special Agents, Caroline County Virginia Planning Commission, tax assistance to the elderly, and extensive work managing finances and fund raising for the many Catholic Church parishes he belonged to throughout his life. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1970. He is survived by his wife of over 64 years, Marion V. Haaser. He was a wonderful and supportive father to his four children Constance, Roy, Brian and Jennifer. Two followed him into Federal service, one is a successful businessman and one is a professor at a Catholic College. He provided his six grandchildren and three great grandchildren with much joy as they grew up around him.
