Wanda (Dmoch) Kartanowicz passed away on April 16 at the age of 91. Wanda lived most of her life in Jersey City, NJ. This is where she was born, met her husband Frank, and raised her family. She was the middle child of eight siblings, all who preceded her in death. Sisters Loretta, Genivieve, and Irene and brothers Victor, Stanley, and two others who died as infants. Wanda married Frank Kartanowicz in 1941. She was a loving wife and mother to two children, Elaine (Nick) Michaelides and George (Mary) Kartanowicz. They enjoyed traveling to visit their daughter Elaine and her family and vacationing in Miami Beach, FL. After she was widowed in 1993, Wanda kept busy with weekly trips to NYC to take in matinees of Broadway shows with her best friend, Julia Grabowski. She also enjoyed shopping and spending time with her grandchildren, often entertaining them with songs from the many musicals she liked to watch. She had five grandchildren Denise (Chris) Drown, George (Mimi) Michaelides, Greg Michaelides and Paul (Amanda) Kartanowicz and six great-grandchildren Stephanie, Melissa, Chelsea, Christina, Geena and Alahna . She remained living independently in her Bayonne apartment until a fall and hip surgery made it impossible to live alone. She then moved in with her daughter Elaine in Bowie, MD where she lived out her remaining years.
