Loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, died March 1, 2011 in Bowie, Maryland. He was born July 14, 1925 in Highland Park, Michigan, the only child of Julia and John Minor Mowbray. After serving in the China Burma India theater in World War II, he reenlisted in the US Army, retiring as a Major in 1965. He was then employed by the National Security Agency, retiring in 1992. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary; three sons: John, James, and Thomas; four daughters: Virginia, Margaret, Mary Catherine, and Patricia; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. He volunteered with the Boy Scouts and several veterans' and retiree groups. He has willed his body to medical science. The family suggests memorial contributions be made in his memory to the National Cryptologic Museum Foundation, P.O. Box 1682, Fort Meade, MD 20755.
