Teresa Palumbo was born on December 21, 1931, in Giovinazzo, Italy, and passed away on Monday, March 14, 2011, in Bowie, MD. Teresa Palumbo was born in Giovinazzo, Italy, to Paolo Palumbo and Nicoletta Piscitelli. Teresa was the second oldest of five children. She came from a very artistic family. Her father, Paolo Palumbo, and brothers, Vincenzo and Nick Palumbo, were accomplished sculptors and stonecarvers. Teresa attended design school in Italy where she was able to create dress designs. She was a very talented dressmaker (wedding dresses being her specialty). She came to the United States in the early 1960's to join the rest of her family in New York. The family moved to Maryland shortly after her arrival and Teresa began working for Rizik Brothers in Washington DC where she worked for 30 plus years until her retirement. Teresa was always a stylish, well-dressed, meticulous lady and a devout Catholic. She enjoyed spending time with her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She also enjoyed watching Italian television and listening to Luciano Pavarotti. Ms. Palumbo was the sister of Guilia Florita, Nick Palumbo and the late Nunzia DeGennaro and Vincenzo Palumbo. She was also survived by a host of loving nieces and nephews (who affectionately called her "Zia Teresa"), relatives, and friends. Family will receive friends at the family-owned BEALL FUNERAL HOME, 6512 NW Crain Hwy. (Rte. 3 South), Bowie, MD on Sunday, March 20, 2011 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Chapel, 16501 Annapolis Rd., Bowie, MD on Monday, March 21, 2011 at 11 am. Interment, Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton, MD.
