Gina Rosena Shiflett

Gina M. Rosena Shiflett 50 of Bowie, Maryland passed away on January 10, 2011 after an extended illness. Gina was born on May 8, 1960 in Pittsburgh, Pa. the daughter of Anthony J. and Lois Black Rosena. She is survived by her husband Tim Shiflett, Bowie, MD, her father Anthony J. Rosena, Williamstown WV, two sisters Adrianna Piernick (brother-in-law, Rock) of Wyoming, Cyndi Huff of Ohio and one brother John Rosena (sister in-law, Joanne) of South Carolina. Gina was preceded in death by her mother Lois Black Rosena, one brother Anthony John Rosena Jr. and one brother-in-law Canton Huff. Gina graduated from Williamstown High school with the class of 1978 and from Fairmont State College in 1982 with a degree in Elementary Education. In 2001 she completed her Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction at McDaniel College. Gina's teaching career began in Randolph Co. West Virginia, before moving to Gastonia County in North Carolina, and then Prince George's and Montgomery County schools in Maryland. Gina was a dedicated wife, caregiver, sister, and friend. Her passion for teaching touched the lives of numerous colleagues and students throughout her career. Gina also leaves behind her beloved pets Panda and Augie. Friends may call Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 N.W. Crain Hwy (Rt. 3 South) Bowie, MD 20715. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 13th at 10 a.m. at Beall Funeral Home. Internment will follow at Monongahela Chapel in PA on Friday, Jan. 14th at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Gina's name to The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
