Jane Bevans Slusher of Bowie, MD and formerly of Paw Paw, WV died on Sunday, September 19, 2010. She was born September 3, 1930 to the late Constantine John and Ruth Bevans. She graduated from Paw Paw High School in Paw Paw, WV and attended University of West Virginia. Jane moved to Washington, D.C. in 1950 and worked as a Secretary on Capitol Hill. She later worked for Lansburgs as a Buyer and lived with her sister Constance and brother-in-law Ted. In November of 1954, Jane married Bill Slusher. Jane was an animal lover and very active in the dog show world. Jane & Bill founded Jhabul Kennels, where they bred and raised Champion Afghan Hounds for many years. She showed and judged at dog shows and she was the President of the Potomac Afghan Hound Club from 1971-73. She was predeceased by her sister, Constance Laign; her twin-brother, John Thomas Bevans; and her son, William C. Slusher, III. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, William C. Slusher, Jr. "Bill"; children Elizabeth (Carl) Burkowske, Ruth Anne Snyder, Mark C. Slusher and Jane Marie (Tom) Welsh; 10 grandchildren Jill, CJ, Will and Catie Burkowske, Justin, Julie and Mandy Snyder, Tori Slusher, Matthew and Kaitlyn Welsh. Family will receive friends at the family-owned BEALL FUNERAL HOME, 6512 NW Crain Hwy. (Rte. 3 South), Bowie, MD on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 from 7:00-9:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 14720 Annapolis Rd., Bowie, MD on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 1:30pm. Interment, Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton, MD. A reception will follow at the Knights of Columbus, Boswell Hall, 6111 Columbian Way, Bowie, MD from 4:30-6:30pm.
