Interment, Washington National Cemetery, Suitland, MD. Obituary Juanita Adair Bradley was born on July 28, 1956, to Mary Elizabeth Bradley and the late Paul Bradley, Jr. in Winston Salem, N.C. She was called home to the Lord on May 31, 2010, after a long courageous battle with cancer. "Tippy" as Juanita was lovingly called, was the second of six children three boys and three girls. Tippy attended grade school in the District of Columbia and graduated from McKinley Tech High School. She attended Federal City College, Prince George's Community College and Syracuse University where she majored in accounting and economics. After college, she worked for Catholic University and later for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) where she excelled and received numerous accommodations. Tippy had a pleasant personality and a great sense of humor. She had a beautiful smile that shined even during many of her most difficult times. She was resilient and extremely generous. She was curious about the world and was an avid reader. In grade school, she began expressing her creativity and gracefulness through modern dance. She loved music and played several instruments in school. Growing up in Washington, D.C., she was surrounded by R&B. It wasn't unusual to drop by the Bradley home and find Tippy performing songs like the Duke of Earl and others with her brothers and sisters. As a teen, Tippy discovered jazz, African and Latin music. In college, she took up disco roller skating and played tennis. Tippy loved her large, loving family and understood and accepted the joys and responsibilities of family. She was "big sister," "momma," and "auntie" upon request and especially enjoyed spending time with her nieces, nephews and great nephews. In recent years, Tippy enjoyed cooking and watched cooking shows on television almost daily. She was baptized as a young adult at Reid Temple AME church where she accepted Christ as her Lord and savior and was instrumental in influencing several family members to join Reid Temple. She was strong in faith and rarely let anything bother her because of her conviction. During her long illness, Tippy's family and friends were inspired by her courage, strength and optimism. Tippy brought joy to the lives of the people who knew and loved her and her kind and generous spirit will be truly missed. She is survived by her mother, Mary Elizabeth Bradley; three brothers, Paul Ronald, Gregory Lee and Darrell Bradley (Tonka); two sisters, Cynthia Pauletta (Nii-Armah Akuete) and Pamela Denise (Jonathan Anderson); two nephews, Antwoine and Daniel; three nieces, Latoia Frayer (Donnie), Rasheeda and Alexis Bradley; three great nephews and a host of family and friends.
