Carmel Stefanelli, 95, of Crownsville, MD died of natural causes on Friday, February 26, 2010 at her home, after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Stefanelli, formerly Carmel Patane, was born in Washington, D.C. on February 10, 1915. Carmel was a beautician for many years, who co-owned and operated a salon in Bladensburg, MD with her sister, Sarah Dessez. She was a member of Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church in Millersville,MD. Carmel was the wife of the late Joseph "Jack" Stefanelli. She was also predeceased by her parents, John and Nellie Patane; brother, Fred Patane; and sister, Frances Figliozzi. She is survived by 2 sisters, Viola DeLeonibus (Angelo) of Bowie, MD and Sarah Dessez De Franco (Lee) of Tierra Verde, FL. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and godchildren. Family will receive friends at the family owned BEALL FUNERAL HOME, 6512 NW Crain Hwy. (Rte. 3 South), Bowie, MD on Monday, March 8, 2010 from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm, with a wake service at 8:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 16501 Annapolis Rd., Bowie, MD on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 10:00am.
