Dorothea S. Schumacher

On Tuesday February 16, 2010 Dorothea Schock Schumacher was called home by her Lord. Dorothea was born on July 23, 1931 in Port Jervis, New York to Clara Fick Schock and Conrad Schock, Sr. Dottie, as she was known by friends and family, was the second of six children. She was married on October 26th, 1952 to Russell Van Noy Schumacher and moved to New Jersey to start her own family. She was the proud Mother of 4 children, and in 2001 Dottie and Russ moved to Bowie, Maryland to be near their son and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 58 years; Russell Van Noy Schumacher, Sr., their daughter Susan and son-in-law Ron Henry of New Jersey, son John Michael Schumacher, II of Maryland, daughter Carol-Lee and son-in-law Louis Harshner of South Carolina, son Russell, Jr. and daughter-in-law Tina Schumacher of South Carolina,. Dottie was also the proud grandmother of 7 wonderful grandchildren: Ryan and Joseph Henry; Kasey, Jamie and Mikey Schumacher; and Joshua and Russie Schumacher. Dottie was predeceased by her brother Alden Bub' Schock. She is survived by brothers, Conrad Ronald and Schock Jr and Lawrence Schock, and sisters, Arlene Malone and Clara Tripodo, and many nieces and nephews. Dottie loved to knit, crochet, read books and do crossword puzzles. She was always willing to help and assist anyone in need. Dottie was very active in HTRBA baseball and Eastern Stars. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 20th, 2010 at 11:00 am at All Saints Lutheran Church, 16510 Mount Oak Road, Bowie, MD 20716 In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to All Saints Lutheran Church Scholarship Fund.
