Michael Jahn Schlegel

Michael Jahn Schlegel, 52 died at his home January 20, 2010. Born on August 31, 1957 in Washington, D.C. He was the son of the late Dwight Burkett and Mary Carol Schlegel; late grandfather Francis Xavier Jahn; living grandmother, Winnie Jahn; aunt Betty Whidden and her husband Bill and their children Casey and Danny. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Cyndi; son, Raymond Turner and his wife, Amy; son, Michael Dwight Schlegel; daughter, Nicole Davey and her husband Ryan, daughter, Jennifer Turner; daughter, adopted son Christopher Ward ; and grandchildren, Liam, James, Alyssa, Kiersten, Noah, and Arianna. He is survived by his brothers, Dwight Paul and John Francis Schlegel; sister Karen Cromwell and her husband Jim; sister Patricia Hogan and her husband Robert Hogan; nephews Brandon Blanks, Brett Blanks, Christopher Cromwell, Stephen Hogan; nieces Allison Hogan, Katie Hogan; and Madison Cromwell; cousins Francis Xavier Jahn, III and his wife Mary and their children Frankie, Emily and Molly; cousin Judy Hall and her husband Jeff and their children Crystal and Melissa; cousin Barbie Frazier and her husband Brian and their son Ian. After graduating Duval High School, Lanham, Maryland, Michael enlisted into the United States Navy in 1976 in which he received extensive military training in electronics warfare maintenance. During his active duty he received several awards, which included a Letter of Commendation, 1978, Meritorious Unit Citation from his Attack Squadron 34, 1979, and a Good Conduct Award. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1980. Since then, Michael has been employed as a Field Technician with Westinghouse and then Northrop Grumman. Michael was devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time with them at the beach. He loved boating, fishing, shooting darts and scuba diving. He enjoyed spending time on the computer, working with his hands and working on his boat. He was highly respected by members of his profession and truly loved by his family. We love you and we'll miss you Michael.
