Mack E. Davis, Esq.

Mack E. Davis was born November 9, 1930, to George Washington Davis (father) and Marietta Collins Davis (mother). Mack went home to the Lord at 12:42 P.M. on December 7, 2008, at the age of 78.Mack exhibited a dedication to education at an early age as he had to walk to and from school, uphill, in the snow, over twenty miles each day. He continued his education from this point, through undergraduate school at South Carolina State College, culminating at George Washington University School of Law (Washington DC), earning a LL.M. (Masters Degree of Law). Along the way, he found time to join the ROTC, serve his country in the Armed Forces in the Korean War, rising to the rank of First Lieutenant. Mack also joined the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, as well as the NAACP, to which he served until his health began to fail him.For over twenty years, Mack was employed as an attorney for the United States Treasury Department, heading up the Foreign Trade Law division. Following his retirement from civil service, he set up a private law practice, which he maintained until his second? retirement in 2006.Mack was a member of the Antioch Church (Varnville, SC) growing up. After moving to the Metropolitan DC area, he found the Mt. Cavalry Baptist Church, of which he been a member for many years, deepening his relationship with the Lord.Mack was predeceased in death by his father, George Washington Davis; his mother, Marietta Collins Davis; a brother, Ephious Davis, and a beloved son, Maxwell E. Davis. Mack leaves to mourn him his three beloved children, Muriel Whorley, Mark (Angelia) Davis, and Mikel (LeNette) Davis, and their mother, Marion Davis; three brothers, Thomas Davis, Bernard Davis, and Kyler (LaVerne) Davis; seven grandchildren, MySha (Andrew) Ritterskamp-Whorley, Erik Davis, Krysta (Brandon) Davis-Powell, Bryan Davis, MyKol Whorley, Cydnie Davis, and Mark E. Davis, II; and a host of cousins, nieces, and other family members and friends.Family will receive friends at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 608 North Horners Lane, Rockville, MD 20850 on Friday, December 12, 2008 from 9:30am until service time, 11:00am. Interment, Antioch Cemetery in Varnville, SC at a later date.
