On Friday, April 10, 2009, Douglas David Singleton Duke?, 44, an 11 year resident of Crofton, MD, passed away at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. He was born October 4, 1964 in Carmel, CA. He was schooled in Verona, Italy and graduated from Munich American High School in Munich, Germany. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from University of Maryland. For the past 5 years, he worked as a Consultant with Chesapeake Telephone Systems. He was a volunteer with Cub Scout Pack #758 in Crofton, MD. Douglas enjoyed writing poetry, especially to and about his wife, Erin. He strived to create a loving and welcoming home for friends and family and took great pride in tending to his garden. Doug appreciated listening to many different styles of music, but was partial to Classic Rock and spent a great deal of time schooling those around him of its artistry. Growing up, he was active in many sports including baseball, basketball, tennis, swimming and skiing and he continued his appreciation as a spectator throughout his life. He especially loved watching his children play basketball. His family was his world and he relished each and every minute he spent with them. Above all, Douglas valued his faith, friendships and family and taught and inspired everyone around him to live with love, honor, strength and commitment. Survivors include his wife, Erin Singleton, who he married on June 5, 1993; their children, Nicholas James Michael and Brayden Vincent Singleton of Crofton, MD; brothers, Robert Russell Singleton of Readington, NJ and Gregory Guy Singleton of Rossmoor, CA; sisters, Suzanne Singleton Brown of Eagle River, AK, Nancy Louise Singleton of Crofton, MD and Maria Issabella Hubbard of Huntingtown, MD; and his parents, Robert William and Anne Singleton of Crofton, MD. Family will receive friends at the family owned BEALL FUNERAL HOME, 6512 NW Crain Hwy. (Rte. 3 South), Bowie, MD on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 from 7:00-9:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Chapel, 16501 Annapolis Rd., Bowie, MD on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at 11:00am. Interment, Sacred Heart Cemetery.
