On Thursday, April 30, 2009 Marian Riecke of Bowie MD died at home after a two year battle with ovarian cancer.Along with her loving husband of 33 years Warren, she will be deeply missed by 2 daughters, Pegeen McGlathery and Nancy Newberry-Callison, a step-daughter Eileen Roberts, 2 sons Jimmy and Michael Newberry, 7 grandchildren, Heather, Corey and Brendan McGlathery, Haley Reynolds, Anastasia and Tyler Newberry, Erica Silberstein and 12 great-grandchildren, Hunter Bryan, Chynna, Marquis, Sydney, Misty and Luke Roberts, Haylea, Alexis and Lyric Newberry and Brenten, Skyler and Bayli Silberstein.Marian was born and raised in Washington DC, spent her teenage years in Greenbelt MD and as an adult lived in Newport Beach CA, Erie PA and was a resident of Bowie MD since 1962. She was the daughter of the late Dorothy and James Hogan, sister of the late Pat Bauer and daughter-in-law of the late Anna Riecke. She worked as a pari-mutuel teller at Bowie, Laurel and Pimlico Race Tracks since 1969 and retired in 2000. She worshipped at St. Pius X Church in Bowie.Marian was a devoted wife and nurturing mother and had many friends. She loved to travel; among her favorite places to visit were Ireland, Europe, Hawaii and the Western United States. She also enjoyed 2-3 day excursion trips to neighboring states. She was an avid reader of mystery books; loved trees, flowers and birds and could identify them all. She was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside.
