Nancy Potok

Nancy Potok (nee Gannon), 60, a thirty-one year resident of Crofton and formerly of Philadelphia, PA, died May 4 at Anne Arundel Medical Center as the result of medical complications following surgery. She was born August 11, 1948 in Scranton, PA. Nancy grew up and was educated in Philadelphia, PA. On October 28, 1972, she married, Charlie Potok. She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker who was full of life and very proud of her Irish Heritage. Nancy enjoyed her family, friends, planning trips and special occasions, shopping and dancing. She was a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Parish for 31 years, and active in the Christian Action Committee who oversaw the care of linens for the Liturgical Ministry. She also served meals monthly at Sarah's House. While her children were young, she was active in the Crofton Woods Elementary School PTA and Crofton Swim and Tennis Club swim team. Survivors include her loving husband Charlie, daughter Kristen of Crofton, MD, son Gregory of Santa Barbara, CA, two sisters Betsy Smith (pat Smith) of Manhattan, NY, and. Maureen Galliano (Peter Galliano), Philadelphia, P A, one brother Kevin Gannon (Kris Gannon), Ashton, MD, and many nieces, nephews and friends.Family will receive friends at the family owned BEALL FUNERAL HOME, 6512 NW Crain Hwy.,(Rte. 3 South), Bowie, MD 20715 on Thursday, May 7, 2009 from 6:00-9:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 1800 Seton Dr., Crofton, MD on Friday, May 8, 2009 at 10:00am. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sarah's House, 2015 20th St., Fort Meade, MD 20755-1301.
