Thomas J. Davis was born December 11, 1932, to George Washington Davis (father) and Marietta Collins Davis (mother). Thomas went home to the Lord at 3:52 P.M. on June 19, 2009, at the age of 76. Thomas exhibited a dedication to education at an early age as he matriculated through high school. He continued his education from this point, earning a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering at South Carolina State College, in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Along the way, he found time to join the ROTC, and he served his country in the Armed Forces in the Korean War.After Thomass tour of duty was completed, he came to Washington, DC, in 1962. Whereupon, he embarked in a career, spanning over thirty years, with the United States Postal Service. It was there that he formed a bond with Ms. Odessa Dorsey, his devoted friend and loving companion; a relationship they maintained for over forty-one years.Thomas was a member of the Antioch Church (Varnville, SC) growing up. After moving to the Metropolitan DC area, he found the Edgewood Baptist Church, of which he had been a member for close to thirty-five years, deepening his relationship with the Lord. Thomas was predeceased in death by his father, George Washington Davis; his mother, Marietta Collins Davis; two brothers, Ephious Davis and Mack Davis, Esquire. Thomas leaves to mourn him his devoted friend, Odessa Dorsey; two brothers, Lee Bernard (Mildred, deceased) Davis and Hugh Kyler (LaVerne, Dr.) Davis, Esquire; four nieces, Muriel Whorley, Lee Davis, Bridgette (Mark) Davis-Benjamin, and Kylene Davis; two nephews, Mark (Angelia) Davis, and Mikel (LeNette) Davis; and a host of cousins, grand-nieces and nephews, and other family members and friends.The funeral service was held for Thomas on Friday, June 26, 2009, at the Antioch Cemetery in Varnville, SC. The memorial service is being held on Monday, June 29, 2009, at the Edgewood Baptist Church, 3408 C? Street, S.E., Washington, DC, at 7:00 P.M. VISITATION: 6/26/2009FUNERAL: 6/26/2009
