Edward J. Walsh passed away suddenly on Monday, july 13, 2009. He is survived by his Wife Rosemary; Five Children Kathy Byrne and her husband Ed, Patty Snyder and her husband Bob, Edward Walsh, Jr. and his wife Teri, Tim Walsh and his wife Joanne and Mary McGowen and her husband Frank; Ten Grandchildren Tracy Nucera, Chris Byrne, Erica Hartman, Cindy Byrne, Heather McGowen, Sean Walsh, Nicole McGowen, Katie Ann Walsh, Casey McGowen and Robert Bobby? Walsh; Three Great Grandchildren Hunter Charles Nucera, Kyra Hope Vaughn and Ava Reese Hartman; Two sisters Sally Smith and Betsy Murphy and her husband, Jim; One brother John Walsh, III and his wife, Peggy. Ed had a Wonderful Life?. He was married almost sixty years to Rosemary, his True Love?. They had seven children in Philadelphia, where he worked for ARCO Chemical Company from 1949 until 1985. During his tenure at ARCO he attended Drexel University in the evenings earning a Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering. He also volunteered his time to Our Lady of Ransom Parrish, through various Church Functions & their Bowling League, the Mayfair Shamrocks Little League Baseball Club, the Devlin League Youth Baseball Organization, and the Wissanoming Volunteer Ambulance Corps. After his retirement, he continued to volunteer his time at various Church Functions, the Bowling League, the Devlin League, and the AARP as a Tax Aide. Ed & Rosemary relocated to Bowie, Maryland in 1999. Even though he was the New Kid on the Block?, he continued his Community Involvement. He became a member of the Knights of Columbus #2577 Council, where he held the positions of Trustee, Warden, Deputy Grand Knight, & Grand Knight. He was the recent recipient of the Knight of the Year Award?. Since their relocation, he has also continued his involvement with the AARP, assisting the elderly with their Federal & State Income Tax Returns. Ed will truly be missed. Visitation will be held at Beall Funeral Home on Thursday, July 16, 2009 from 3-5 and 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 1940 Mitchellville Rd., Bowie, MD on Friday, July 17, 2009 at 10:30am. Interment will be private.
