Donald Wayne Woolery, age 85, a 47 year resident of Bowie, MD and previously of Silver Spring, MD, passed away at his home on Thursday, August 13, 2009 due to complications after a fall. He was born on January 12, 1924 in Dunn Center, ND. Mr. Woolery held Bachelors Degrees in Romance Languages and Library Sciences. A retired employee of the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., he worked as a Selection Officer in the Division of Serial Records. His hobbies included furniture making, reading, cooking, walking and gardening both outdoors and in greenhouses. Mr. Woolery was also a fan of the Opera. Together, with his wife Rosemary whom he married in 1952 and who later passed away in 1979, he adopted all 6 of his children. He is survived by 2 sons, Andrew N. Woolery of Ellicott City, MD and Benjamin J. Woolery of Bowie, MD; 4 daughters, Claudia A. Ploor of Crownsville, MD, Louisa E. Woolery of Beltsville, MD, Sara K. Snyder of Gaithersburg, MD and Frances M. Stubbs of Beltsville, MD; 1 brother, Charles Woolery of Bella Vista, AR; 1 sister, Janet Gunter of Montevideo, MN; and 9 grandchildren, Ryan Woolery of Ellicott City, MD, Shannon Woolery of Bowie, MD, Eric Woolery of Bowie, MD, Bridget Woolery of Bowie, MD, Matthew Ploor of Crownsville, MD, Lindsey Woolery of Hyattsville, MD, Joshua Snyder of Gambrills, MD, Nicole Snyder of Raleigh, NC and Ashley Stubbs of Beltsville, MD.Family will receive friends at the family owned BEALL FUNERAL HOME, 6512 NW Crain Hwy. (Rte. 3 South), Bowie, MD on Saturday, August 22, 2009 from 5:00-8:00pm, with a Funeral Service at 6:30pm. Interment private.
