Richard Cork? Frankhouser, schoolteacher, coach, and all-around good guy, died Thursday at the age of 62 from complications of prostate cancer. Cork was born February 19, 1947, in Reading, PA, to Elmer and Margaret Frankhouser. Always modest, most dont know Cork played in the Little League World Series, was labeled one of the top 10 basketball players in the state during high school, and voted Homecoming King his senior year. Cork received a BS from West Virginia University and later an MS from Loyola College in Maryland. He was a proud member of the Phi Delta Theta brotherhood. Cork lost his first wife, Pamela Life, of Parkersburg, WV, to breast cancer in 1993. Cork taught P.E. for 40 years in Anne Arundel County, coached a number of notable athletes in both football and basketball, and scouted for the University of Maryland football program. Cork was an MSgt in the U.S. Army and also served in the Maryland National Guard.In 1995, Cork married Carol Ann Critzman (ne Perkins), of Pasadena, MD and together they raised the boys?: Ryan D. Frankhouser and William H. and Christopher M. Critzman in Crofton, MD. In 2006, the couple purchased a second home on the Delaware Bay where they enjoyed each other, their great and extended family, and their pontoon boat. Cork is survived by his wife, Carol, of Crofton; sister Carol Toot? of Lebanon, PA; children William, of New York, NY, Ryan, of Crofton, MD, and Chris, of Pasadena, MD; and grandchildren Austin and Logan Frankhouser.A memorial service celebrating Corks life will be held from 2-4 pm on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at the Beall Funeral Home at 6512 Crain Hwy, Bowie, MD (301-805-5544).
