Jane Smith Estabrook, 89, of Greenbelt, MD passed on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 of natural causes. She was born in Dayton, OH her parents, Eugene and Ella Smith and was sister of Ginger Wood. Jane graduated from Julienne H.S. in 1938 and from Secretarial School, both in Dayton, OH. On October 30, 1943, she married Warren Delevan Estabrook (Esty), to whom she was an indespensible life partner for over 30 years. He passed in July 1982. She embraced and enjoyed life and had a gift for making everyone she encountered feel special. She was admired for her spirit, optimism, fortitude and compassion. Jane was an accomplished cook, gardener, avid Bridge player and entertainer. She graciously presided over many festive occasions. She was a keen reader and had a lifelong passion for learning and making sure that everyone spoke properly. Jane relished her role as Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother and was immensely proud of all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by two sons, Steven Estabrook of Noblesville, IN and Jospeh Estabrook of Beltsville, MD; a daughter, Jane Marlow of Greenbelt, MD; five grandchildren, Jason, Brett, Elizabeth, Kristina and Ian; and three great-grandchildren, Sierra, Charlie and Wyatt.
