Mrs. Adin Rebecca Abung-Osayande was popularly addressed by all her family, colleagues and friends as Adin except by her children, nephews and nieces. Adin was the last, and adorable child born on October 29, 1969, to the Late Abung Ofuka Abung and the Late Pearl E. Panton-Abung in Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria.
Adin’s early childhood education began at Akim Quo Primary School in Calabar. As a child she was very quiet and reserved and was fascinated in reading and excelling in her studies. After excelling in her primary education, Adin was rewarded to continuing her secondary education at Federal Girls College Gboko, Benue State, Nigeria. This was a feat only accomplished by her among her siblings that will lay the foundation to further her studies in the United States.
Our beloved Adin continued to having a zeal for learning and broadening her horizons when she moved to Queens, New York staying with her mother.
In 1989, she attended the Council for Airport Opportunities, where she studied Computer Science. A self-driven and ambitious young lady, Adin attended school and worked at Alexander’s, in Green Acres. She eventually begin her collegiate studies at York College, New York.
Adin relocated to Maryland in 1989 to join her siblings Ejack, Blossom and Ndifon alongside her mother. She enrolled at Prince Georges Community College continuing her education and still working at People’s Drug Store, now known as CVS and later United States Postal Service in Capital Heights.
Adin meet her future husband, my humble self, Franklin in 1990 and we got married and started raising our family. We have three lovely children from 1995 to 1998, Efosa was the eldest born while she was holding two jobs at USPS and American Medical Adult Day care center in Pasadena, Maryland. Osaretin was born next and Ekaji last.
Adin was very hard working as you can see, family oriented loving mother, a trait she inherited from her parents especially her mom. She did everything to the best of her ability to improve the quality of life for her family and children whom she loved dearly. On graduating from Prince Georges College with an Associate degree in Business Administration and Health Information Management Technology, she proceeded to University of Maryland University College graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Care Administration.
Adin worked for Kaiser Permanente, rising to the position of Regional Supervisor from the position of Outpatient Medical coder. She left Kaiser to go to Washington DC Hospital for Sick Children on a part time base, while working full time for Suburban Hospital. Her last job was at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore.
Mrs. Adin Osayande was a devoted Christian that raised her children in the Faith. She brought her family up to worship the Lord baptizing and christening her kids. A devoted and exceptional mother who desired nothing less than best for her family. She was very meticulous, consistent and forward thinking. She believed in budgeting and allocation of funds for designated assignment. A loving, kind and generous individual to not only her immediate family but also her extended family and friends. Rest in peace my friend and partner till we meet again.
