       Rest In Peace Alexander E Currin

Alexander Eddie Currin (82) quietly transitioned to eternal rest on April 4, 2021.

Alexander Eddie Currin was born July 21, 1938 in Raleigh, North Carolina to the late John Currin and Thelma Wallace.

Alexander attended J.W. Ligon Jr. and Sr. High School where he was awarded All State Wide Receiver.  He received a scholarship to St Augustine University, an elite HBCU school.  He went on to Shaw University another HBCU school and graduated  in 1965.  He worked at N+O Newspapers in Raleigh from 1957-1967 in the distribution department.

He was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.

Alexander Currin received an Honorable Discharge from  the Army of the United States in 1964.

He moved to the Washington DC area in the late sixties.  He spent 40 years teaching in Prince Georges MD. where he provided guidance and inspiration to hundreds of students who recognize and love him to this very day.

Alexander was a frequent fan at the Redskin games.  He loved fishing and playing poker and has many awards as Champ from the World Tavern Poker. He loved traveling in the Americas as well as in Europe.

Alexander Currin was a loving husband and partner to Elizabeth N. Currin (Liz) for 28 years with whom he traveled and shared many wonderful adventures.

He was preceded in death by his parents John Currin and Thelma Wallace and his siblings Octavia Taylor and Tony Currin as well as sons Christopher Currin and Urian Proctor.

Alexander is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Liz), son Alexander E Currin Jr.(Jodi) of Easley, SC , daughter Alexis Dyane Currin of Washington DC. and daughter-in-law Tanya Proctor of Bowie MD, two grand'daughters Amiera and Anya Proctor and brothers Terry Wallace, Dwight Wallace (Rosie), Yancy Davis (Stacey), Tommy Davis and sister Charlotte Holmes.

Alexander E Currin was an organ donor to the WRTC of Washington DC.

The Visitation and Funeral service will take place 17 April, 2021 at the Beall Funeral Home,  6512 Crain Hwy (Rt.3 South) Bowie, MD 20715   3-5 pm..
