Alexander Bernard Jacobs Fitzmaurice (Alex), loving son, brother, uncle, and friend to so many, passed away at the age of 32 on Thursday, November 26th, 2020.
Alex is survived by his parents, Francis (Frank) Fitzmaurice Jr. and Mary Beth Fitzmaurice; siblings: Meghann (Jason) Diedrich, William (Joelle, fiance), and Anna; nieces and nephews: Bailey, Leo, Max, and Brynn; grandfather: Bernard Jacobs and grandmother: Patricia Fitzmaurice. He is predeceased by his grandfather: Francis Fitzmaurice Sr.; grandmother: Evva Jacobs; and his aunt: Diana Fitzmaurice.
Alex was born in Annapolis on June 28th, 1988 to Mary Beth Jacobs. Before he even entered the world, Alex had the chance to experience the depth of his mother’s love, as she chose to give birth to him as a single mother. Only a few months later, Alex met his future, his now, and his forever father, Frank. In June of 1990, Frank and Mary Beth were married and not long after, Frank officially adopted Alex as his son. Alex and the Fitzmaruice family lived in Laurel, MD until the summer of 1997, when they moved to Frank and Mary Beth’s current residence in Bowie, MD, which he considered his childhood home. Alex graduated from Bishop McNamara Catholic High School in 2006. He held many jobs over the years, especially in the food service industry, where he developed countless friendships.
Alex loved sports: he performed well in many of them as a child and excelled at lacrosse throughout his career. Not only did Alex love playing them, but he also loved watching them. Anybody who knew him could tell you he loved the Caps, although, his first love was most likely the Orioles, which was instilled in him by his Baltimore born and raised grandfather. More importantly, Alex loved his family and friends. He was a typical older brother to his siblings and loved spending time with his aunts, uncles, and 40+ cousins on both sides of the family. Alex was a caring friend to so many, as well. Many could not think of Alex without picturing his best friend, Jason Mulroy, by his side. He was able to look past people’s faults and failures in a special way, allowing him to develop friendships with almost anyone. Alex had his own struggles, but since his death, countless people have come forth and expressed how Alex was able to help and encourage them in their own difficulties. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Donations can be made in Alex’s name to Well’s House at https://www.wellshouse.org/support-us/donate/. Please offer your prayers for the repose of Alex’s soul and for God’s Divine Mercy. Please especially pray for the intercession of Our Lady of Fatima, St. Maxillimian Kolbe (Alex’s confirmation saint), and St. Norbert, whose medal he had with him and was no doubt at his side in his final moments.
