Anastasios “Ernie” Papaminas, of Timonium, Maryland passed away on March 21, 2024, at his home. Born on July 24, 1964 in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the Andrew and Sunday Papaminas. He was the beloved husband of Georgia Papaminas.
After graduating school, Ernie went on to work in the construction field where he worked several years building and paving the State’s highways. But that was not his calling. His real love was fishing and in the 1990s, Ernie left for Tampa, Florida, to pursue his dream as a fishing captain guiding hundreds of parties in search of catching prized game fish. He would later move back to Maryland where he met his wife Georgia and had a son, Andrew.
Ernie was known for his love of animals of all kind and rescued many in his lifetime. He would often find abandoned baby birds, nurse them back to health and set them free. In addition, he loved to travel to Rhodes, Greece to visit relatives. He loved to sit under the lemon trees and watch the animals at the family farm.
He will be fondly remembered for his heart of gold, vast knowledge of fish and wildlife, and love of family.
