Journey of Life
Angeline (Angie) Sarieta Gower departed this life on Monday, March 9, 2020 at the Patuxent River Rehabilitation Center in Laurel, Maryland. She was born on May 1, 1944 in Lexington, Virginia to the late Vaden H. Thompson, Sr. and Cornelia Massie Thompson. Angeline is one of seven children called the “Thompson.Seven.”
Angie was a member of Randolph Street United Methodist Church where she was very active in youth programs. She was educated at Lylburn Downing Elementary and High School where she enjoyed basketball and played the clarinet in the school band. She continued her studies at Cortez W. Peters Business School in Washington, D.C. which led to her employment at the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare (HEW) in Washington, D.C. as a court stenographer. Angie continued to blossom while at HEW, both personally and professionally. She received her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from American University in Washington, D.C., which lead to a promotion at HEW as a Hearing and Appeals Analyst. She ultimately made the courageous decision to take an early retirement from the Federal Government to pursue her interest in Real Estate.
Due to her strong commitment and dedication, Angie had an extremely successful career for over 20 years as a Real Estate Agent in Maryland. She took great pride in understanding the needs of her clients, by not merely selling them a house, but educating them on the housing industry. She went above and beyond to ensure her clients found the home of their dreams. Because of her strong work ethics and passion for people, she was recognized by Century 21 Realtors as the Million Dollar Agent and later co-founder of Gower Real Estate. Her last employment was with Exit First Realty in Bowie Maryland.
Angie had another passion. She loved doing yard work while putting a lot of time ensuring she had a well-groomed yard.
As the years passed, Angie felt it was time to rededicate her life to Christ and did so March 2, 2020.
Angie was preceded in death by her parents and she leaves to cherish her memories; her son, Aaron K. Thompson (Kartika), daughter Camille P. Jennings (Sinclair); son Mark Gower (Shalja); daughter April Gower-Gertz (Dave); one brother, Vaden H. Thompson Jr. (Irene); five sisters, Elizabeth Lee Merchant (Joseph), Sandra K. Collins, Linda A.
