Angeline M (Dalmas) Opalski, Angelina as her mother named her, 97, of Lanham, Maryland passed away at home on 19 October 2024 leaving the greatest memories of a wonderful loving, caring, faithful example of a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt (Zia), and friend.
Angelina was born in Sheatown-Newport Township, Pennsylvania in 1927 to George (Giorgio) and Giuditta (Scottà) Dal Mas. Gina loved walking the mountains with her mother and siblings. Also, she enjoyed going berry picking.
Angie graduated from Nanticoke High School in 1946. She worked in the town’s shoe store (she loved), cigar and silk mills (she hated). During the war, Angie would write and read letters for the parents of those boys stationed overseas.
Angie was a member of the Church of Saint Matthias the Apostle for over 60 years. She was a member of the Mother Seton Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus Council # 5381, St. Matthias’ Leisure Club and Ladies of Charity, TOPS, the Nuns Group, and many other volunteering organizations. Her working career included being a Prince Georges County Crossing Guard and working in the cash office and on the floor at Garfinkel‘s in Landover, Maryland.
Angeline was preceded in death by her husband, John, son Thomas, and her 6 siblings. She is survived by her son Joseph, daughters Augusta/Tina (Terry), Margaret, nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, sister-in-law Marcia, host of nieces and nephews, and many dear friends, all who will never forget the love she brought into their lives.
