Ann Marie Howerton
January 7, 1938 — October 2, 2018
Ann Marie Howerton of Severna Park, Maryland passed peacefully in her sleep on October 2, 2018 in the compassionate care of Hospice of the Chesapeake. She was 80 years old.
Ann will be lovingly remembered by her children, Bob, Terri, and Bill; in-laws Cary, Jan, John, and Candy; siblings Nellie and Maurice; grandchildren Christina, Jack, Michael, JP, Taylor, Melissa, John, Julianne, Garrett, Billy, Alec, and Mikey; and great-grandchildren MJ and Sunnie. Ann joins the arms of those who went before her, especially her mother Mary Bridget, and her son Ed, both whom she lost early and missed deeply, as well as her husband of 30 years, Bob, and her siblings Larry, Pat, Mary and Kathleen.
Ann was born in Washington D.C. on January 7, 1938. She attended St. Gabriel’s grade school and Holy Name High School, and often recalled both gratefully. She worked at Providence Hospital, and married Bob Howerton in 1960, raising their four children in Lanham, Maryland.
She was gracious, friendly, encouraging, quick-witted, deeply empathetic toward others, and even in the most ordinary places, she was instinctively moved to advocate for anyone who was vulnerable or treated unjustly.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, October 7, 2018 from 2pm to 5pm at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Hwy (Rt 3 South), Bowie, MD. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 8816 Chesapeake Ave., North Beach, MD on Monday, October 8, 2018 at 10am. Interment Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3165 Mattawoman Beantown Rd, Waldorf, MD.
