Ann Walters

December 21, 1935 — January 13, 2021

Ann Walters, 85, of Crofton, Maryland passed away peacefully on January 13, 2021 after a long brave fight with Dementia. Born to James and Harriet Manias, on December 21,1935 in the bustling city of New York, New York. She was the wife of Arthur Edward Walters.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three children: Cynthia Posinski-Lorentzen and her husband Joseph Lorentzen, Edward Walters and Maria Hammond and her sister Irene Martinelli and her brother James Manias. She is now reunited with her late sister Bess Stanchfield.

Also survived by her grandchildren, their wives and significant others: Edward Walters, Jr., Ricky Posinski and his wife Nikki, Nicholas Walters and Victoria Loechner and James Posinski and Anna Dykstra, Jason Lorentzen and his wife Jennifer and five great grandchildren: Kylee, Erik, Scarlett, Arthur, and Gavin.

Ann attended high school in Bayside, NY and graduated in 1953 with honors in secretarial achievements. Her first job was working for the Johns Manville Company as a secretary for one of the vice presidents. Ann loved her job with such passion and was so loved by her colleagues that her boss would give her his box seats to many Yankee home games.

Ann met her husband, Arthur Walters at a Greek Orthodox Church outing in 1958, and it was love at first sight. They married two years later on April 24 and loved each other for 60 beautiful years. Then Cynthia, her first child was born and Ann became “a stay at home mom”. Ann lived on Long Island, NY for many years raising her three children. She dedicated her life to her children and to her husband leaving her position as an executive secretary in her industry.

In 1979 she and the family moved to Crofton, MD; never forgetting that day as they arrived during a 25-inch blizzard. Once in Maryland, Ann went to work at Litton Industries in College Park, MD as an executive secretary. Her pleasant personality was contagious to everyone she encountered. It was there that she developed her most cherished friendships with Dolores Marinaccio, Diane Loy, Maxine Yackman and her late friend Rose Glasser.

Ann retired in 1999 to Bumpass, VA enjoying the peace and quiet of Lake Anna. She absolutely loved living there where she could spend time playing her piano, creating beautiful cross-stitch masterpieces, and trying her hand at knitting. She enjoyed bird watching, reading, and hosting holiday gatherings. She was always so excited when her Litton girlfriends came for a visit as they laughed and laughed.

Ann moved to Crofton, MD in 2016 to be closer to her family and friends. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her family, extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ann’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in her honor.
