Anna (Ann) Mae Weathers departed this life on Tuesday January 4, 2022. She was born on December 13, 1942, in Washington, D.C. to the late William S. and Eva M. Brown. She graduated from Luther Jackson High School in Fairfax County, VA. She married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, the late David Merry Weathers, Jr on February 3, 1961. They were married for forty-seven years and were blessed with two beautiful daughters Jeanette and Deridra. Anna was kindhearted, generous, caring and had a deep compassion and love for children.

In her childhood, she was a devoted member in First Baptist Church of Vienna. In 1967, she and her family moved to Washington, D.C. and joined First Rock Baptist Church. There she was a faithful member of the Gospel Chorus and Tribe of Judah and taught Vacation Bible School for many years. Later she joined the First Baptist Church of Glenarden where she served on the Card Ministry.

She attended District of Columbia Teachers College and graduated as a Teachers Assistant in 1972. After graduation, she worked in the D.C. Public School System and later worked in the Prince Georges’ County Public School System until retirement in 2009. She enjoyed her retirement years by traveling with family, gardening, and spending time with her beloved family.

Anna was a truly blessing to her family. She was a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Anna was a mother and friend to others outside of her family. She supported them as if they were own children. She also enjoyed family gatherings, especially with her grand and great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed, but lovingly remembered. Anna lived her best life!

Anna leaves to honor and cherish her memories: two siblings: Brenda Wynn and Keith Brown, her older brother Joesph Brown preceded her in death, two daughters: Jeanette M.Weathers-(Derrick Sr.) Jenkins and Deridra A. (Brian Sr.) Jones, four grandchildren: Derrick Jr (Georgette). and Jasmine (Tyron) Jenkins, Brianna and Brian Jones, Jr., four great-grandchildren: Jasmira and Tya Jackson and Hannah and Christopher Jenkins; brother-in-laws Philip and Hugh Weathers, beloved cousin Marjorie Duncan, as well as a host of nieces and nephews and very dear friends.
