Annette C. Duckworth

Annette Christman Duckworth, 74, of Crofton, MD died peacefully at home in the presence of her family on August 28, 2018 after a 19 year battle with breast cancer. She was born July 23, 1944 in Queens, NY and graduated from St. Angela Hall Academy. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1965 with a B.A. degree in Mathematics from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. There she met her husband Robert (Bob) in their freshman year. Annette worked briefly for the CIA and left to raise her two children, Rob and Karen.

Annette and Bob moved to Crofton, MD in 1968 where they raised their family and continued to reside. As a stay-at-home mom, Annette enjoyed participating in Girl Scouts, church activities, and school events. In 1985 she started working part time at several accounting firms. She volunteered for the Caring Collection, helping to raise funds for cancer research and cancer patient care, and later for the Seton Stitchers, making afghans for the residents of Sarah's House. Annette loved to travel, garden, walk around Crofton Parkway (with Bob and dog Scottie), shop, eat out, bird watch, go to the theater and movies, write letters, and spend time with her grandchildren.

For 73 years she enjoyed spending her summer vacation with her extended family at the Great Sacandaga Lake in the Adirondacks. Annette is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, Bob; her children Rob (Lydia) Duckworth of Severn, MD and Karen (Jim Labor) Duckworth of Philadelphia, PA; five grandchildren Benjamin and Sophia Duckworth, Simon, Tristan and Adrian Labor, and step-grandson Andrew Fraijo; sisters Marjorie and Lillian, and brothers Donald and John; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday September 5, 2018 from 6pm to 8pm at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Hwy (Rt 3 South), Bowie, MD. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1800 Seton Drive, Crofton, MD on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Annette's memory to Seton Stitchers (or Haiti Outreach) c/o Seton Parish, 1800 Seton Dr, Crofton, MD 21114.
