Annie Ruth Hammonds

Ruth was born Rosie Annie Ruth Howell to Benjamin Franklin Howell and Mary Thompson Howell on May 16, 1937 in Lumberton, North Carolina.  She was the youngest of eight children (one brother and six sisters), all preceding her in death.

She graduated from J.H. Hayswood High School in Lumberton, North Carolina in 1955.  She married Andrew Lee Hammonds on December 21, 1955, and they shared sixty years together.  Shortly after getting married, she traveled with her husband.  From their union came two children, Veronica Gale and Gregory Kurk. 

Sadly, Ruth passed away very early Tuesday morning, February 21, 2023.  She will be truly missed, and we will always cherish the many years and moments spent together.  She will remain in our memories and in our hearts.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Veronica (Carl), and son Gregory (Nefer), grandson Anthony (Talia), granddaughter Christina (Philip), great grandchildren Cierra, Caiden, Chloee along with a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
