Anthi was born February 10, 1925 in Athens, Greece. She moved to the United States via ship to Ellis Island in 1955 with her husband George and their children Helen (Trantas) Karamalakos and Anthony George Trantas. After briefly living with her brother in Aberdeen, Anthi, a seamstress, and her husband George, a tailor, started their dry-cleaning business in Baltimore city which ultimately grew into 5 very successful locations-Martone Cleaner.
George Trantas passed away in 1974 of cancer and Anthi later remarried in 1978 to Homer Sakelos.
Anthi is remembered by her family as an excellent cook, amazing baker, and the life of the party. When Anthi walked into a room everyone smiled and looked forward to hearing her jokes. She was an amazing dress maker, knitter, and avid crocheter.
Anthi is survived by her sister, Virginia Sudeck; children Tony & Marcia Trantas and Helen Karamalakos; grandchildren Panos and Anthi Karamalakos, George & Shannon Trantas, Dana (Trantas) & Marty Smith, and Harrison & Sarah Sexton; Great Grandchildren Anthony and Olivia Trantas.
