Arlene Frances Futch was born on June 10, 1937, in Yonkers, New York, and passed away surrounded by family on December 21, 2023. Beloved widow of George W. Futch, loving mother of Margaret (Meg) Wein (Eric), Michelle Cooke (George), Lauren Popp (Steve). Also survived by six cherished grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and three devout sisters: Claire Oue of Kona, Hawaii, Frances DeVall of Wappingers Falls, New York, and Carol Pane of Bethlehem, Connecticut.
Arlene graduated from Danbury Teachers College and taught fourth grade before marrying on June 11, 1962. She was a Naval Officer's wife for more than 20 years when she and George settled in Bowie, Maryland. Arlene was a master cross stitcher and gifted many treasures to her immediate and extended family over the years and across the miles. Arlene worked at Peebles Department Store for several years and was a special educator for Prince George’s County Public Schools. Mostly, she was a faithful Catholic and served St. Pius X church as a sodalist, eucharistic minister and prayer shawl minister, and a prayerful servant of the rosary.
Relatives and friends may call at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 Crain Hwy, on Thursday, December 28, 2023, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be offered at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Bowie, Maryland on December 29, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. A private burial will be held at a later date at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery.
