Attilio A. Stone

August 23, 1937 — October 30, 2022

Born August 23, 1937, and died October 30, 2022, Tony is survived by his daughters, Marian Stone Ashley and husband James Ashley, Michele Stone, and Kathleen Stone Zuniga and husband Edgar Zuniga, and his daughter-in-law Tiffany Stone.  Also, his grandchildren, Jason, John and James Ashley, Dillon and Braedon Stone, and Matthew and AvaMarie Zuniga.  Tony was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Marie and Ralph Stone and had two sisters, Mary, and Nancy and one brother, Carl.  Tony attended Marian College in Indiana where he received his Bachelor of Arts where he studied Math and History.  He met Elizabeth Grace Beard at Marian College and married on September 9, 1961.  They had four children, Marian Antoinette, Brian Anthony, Michele Antoinette, and Kathleen Antoinette.  He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Son, Brother, and family and church member.  Our Dad asked us to only talk about his love of God and family in his obituary so that's what we will do.  He loved the Mass, attending daily mass for many years where he also enjoyed visiting with his coffee group after Mass each day.  He loved his family, caring for our Mom while she was ill and then bed-bound and also his grandchildren, including Matthew and AvaMarie who he watched every week day for several years.  He loved to teach his grandchildren about history, visiting historical sights and telling historical stories.  He loved to grow his own vegetables, with a large garden in his backyard, which he used to make all his delicious, Italian food.  He loved to cook, making homemade pasta, pizza, and his famous lasagna that he most enjoyed sharing with others.  He loved to volunteer with SOME (So Others Might Eat), Warm Nights, Sacred Heart Church, and Knights of Columbus where he often was cooking, serving, and sharing his love of God, Jesus, and the Virgin Mary.  He also coached his kids' soccer and basketball teams where he emphasized teamwork and sportsmanship.  He loved math and numbers, a Mathematician at heart, and enjoyed serving on the Sacred Heart Finance Committee.  He loved to walk, walking a mile every day enjoying nature, his neighborhood, family, and friends.  He loved to sing, especially church and patriotic songs, often singing on his front porch in his rocking chair.  His favorite movie, Lilies of the Field, was the basis for his entire family singing "Amen" at every meal, every day after prayers.  He will be greatly missed but we know he is in Heaven now with his wife, Elizabeth, and son, Brian.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to his beloved church, Sacred Heart Church in Bowie, MD.
